Skinidin, Isle of Skye (2008)

The clients run an interior design company www.moletamunro.com so wanted a house that worked for high-end holiday lets, and could also show off their contemporary furniture and fittings.

The ground floor interior steps down from the open dining kitchen area into the living room, with carefully detailed cabinets helping define the spaces. A large corner window frames the views to Loch Dunvegan.

Upstairs there are two large bedrooms and a bathroom, with storage built-in to the coombe space.

The building is clad in Scottish larch, with large storage areas concealed within the gable wall of the building. The roof is simple profiled metal sheeting; robust against the wind, and reflects the agricultural aesthetic of the area.
