3 House Development – Dornie, Lochalsh (2005)

Dualchas were approached to design 3 houses on adjacent sites overlooking Loch Long near Dornie. The Masterplan was important because we wanted to maintain the crofting character of this part of the village. The vacant site sat between a group of houses to the east and a row of houses loosely situated between the bottom slopes of the hill, road and loch.

The houses followed the line of the existing development, sharing an access, storage shed and treatment plant and are arranged in a gentle curve around the base of the hill. The buildings were orientated so that they faced in slightly different directions, giving privacy and creating a less uniform pattern.

Two of the houses are 4 bedroomed in rendered block, with the central house clad in larch. All three have slate roofs. The houses are available for let through the owners website - www.dornie-lodges.co.uk
