Dualchas were approached by a housing association to produce a masterplan for a site on the edge of a west coast Scottish island town.  The brief was for 20 social rented houses of a variety of sizes.

By using inspiration from historic Scottish villages such as Footdee in Aberdeen, a successful masterplan for 32 houses was produced, making the scheme financially much more viable.  The aim was to increase density but to retain a rural character by minimising the impact of cars.  It was decided to limit parking to two central areas, with the houses accessed by a series of paths.

Careful proportioning and massing will make this a beautiful and safe place to live.
