Running to the 11th of January 2009 before touring Scotland, the 4th biennial survey of architecture in Scotland explores new trends in regional and sustainable building by looking at eight recently completed buildings, mainly in the Highlands and Islands, alongside six from continental Europe.

An expert panel of acclaimed architects were assembled for the judging panel including Phil Griffen at Spoken Image, Charlie Hussey of Sutherland Hussey Architects and Hannah Lawson of John McAslan & Partners, all overseen by the chairmanship of Neil Gillespie of Reiach and Hall.

Dualchas principal Mary Arnold Forster was this week interviewed for the Sunday Times about her new house.

Highly insulated and barn-like in scale, her house is a stunning example of how a simple form can create beautiful architecture.
