Triathlon fundraiser for Raasay Village Hall PDF Print E-mail
Three hardy Skye architects battled through stormy weather on Saturday to raise money for Raasay Village Hall.

Mary-Arnold Forster, Neil Stephen and Lara Hinde from Dualchas Building Design ran 4 miles up Beinn na h-Iolaire at the north tip of Rassay, kayaked the length of Eilean Fladda, before cycling the 8 miles back from Arnish to the hall.

Mary Arnold-Forster said, ”The new hall is a great resource for the island, but there has to be a final fundraising effort to get it finished. The target is £15,000, and any support we can get is greatly appreciated.”

The community has put in a huge effort to raise the money to build the hall over the last few years, but while the building was on site the original builders went back to Poland without finishing the work. This has meant that efforts to find the money to finally complete the hall had to be redoubled.

Community hall director, Sadie MacLeod said, “We are very excited at having such a wonderful facility, and it is already becoming a hub for community activity. We share Mary, Lara and Neil’s commitment to see it finished as intended, and hope that people with an island connection will be willing to give a donation, however small.”
