Longhouse - Breakish, Skye (2000) The clients of this house in South Skye required it to be of traditional appearance externally, yet modern and spacious within. This design follows closely the layout of the old blackhouse with the building stepping down the slope of the site. The bedrooms are at the upper end of the house with the living areas at the lower end. The open plan kitchen steps down to a living space with a central chimney and dramatic views to Raasay and the Cuillins through a huge fixed window in the gable. Materials used are maple, iroko and limestone.
