The Black House, Clashnessie (2009)

This tiny black corrugated house built in the township of Clashnessie, North of Lochinver, has a large kitchen/dining/living room with horizontal southerly views. Sliding doors onto a deck overlook the beach, with a large framed view west out to sea.

There is also on the ground floor a bedroom and bathroom, and above a gallery and sleeping loft.  It is furnished with classic Scandinavian pieces, with a wall of wallpaper from Timorous Beasties in the bedroom.  The floor is simple concrete, whilst the worktops have been produced from recycled wood.  A window has been positioned in the bathroom for a view of the spectacular nearby waterfall.

The building complements existing ones in the village, which includes stone and corrugated sheds.
