Kinloch Park Developments (2008)

Sports Centre
Kinloch
Isle of Skye

With this new facility, it is intended that Kinloch will become a focal point for sporting activities for South Skye that will be available for the whole community. It is a joint venture between Sleat and Strath Football Club, the University of the Highlands, and the local community. Funding should be in place this summer with work beginning in 2009.

The clubhouse has been designed as a timber clad building, on strong principles of sustainability. The club hopes that the design will set a standard in the Highlands, and help attract more people to the facilities.

The full-size all-weather pitch will be suitable for all forms of team games such as football, shinty, rugby, and hockey, all of which are played at a local level in the area, but involve most teams travelling long distances to other suitable playing fields elsewhere in the Highlands. It will also be marked out for a variety of court games. Floodlighting will allow outdoor sport to take place throughout the winter, something which is not possible at the moment.
