Tern House Byre, Waternish, Isle of Skye (2005)

Tern House Byre had been disused for many years other than for general storage.  After the main house had been refurbished it was decided that the unremarkable looking building had the potential to become something special.

It was stripped out and remodelled to provide an exclusive holiday retreat and has proved a huge success, being recently named by the Guardian as one the top holiday retreats in the UK. It combines contemporary interiors, hand-crafted from limed-oak and Caithness slate, with traditional exteriors to create a gentle blend of old and new.

The Byre is advertised as 'the perfect retreat from a busy world' and is rented out exclusively to couples.
