Refurbishment - Beechcroft Road, Oxford (1997)

This suburban house was remodelled and extended to provide a long term solution to a growing family.  The kitchen to the rear was extended to provide a series of spaces, from a transition to a cooking area, to the dining space, to a covered terrace, and finally onto the garden.

The new extension was articulated from the old by a simple frameless rooflight.  Each window and door was considered seperately to frame or reveal a view either in the foreground or beyond. At the end of the room you are finally among the trees.  The purpose made maple doors open on the corner and fold back to open the house onto the garden.
