| Skye House on ITV One's Dream Homes |
|
The building of the multi-award winning house 'The Shed' , designed by Skye practice Dualchas Building Design, is to be shown across the UK when it features on ITV One's Dream Homes on the 12th of July. The programme follows architect Mary Arnold Forster as she realises her unusual ambition of building a luxury house - which looks like an agricultural building. Mary said, 'Agricultural buildings have a simple form and aesthetic which is perfect for the Scottish countryside. With our landscapes architecture should be restrained and unobtrusive and not be trying to compete.' In the programme Mary is taken to Cape Breton to meet her architectural hero Brian MacKay Lyons whose stunning buildings celebrate the similar landscapes of Nova Scotia. Unlike in Scotland however, his houses stand tall against the skyline, something Scottish planning laws abhor. Since the programmes was made the Shed has won many plaudits including the Gold medal at last years Roses Awards, a UK wide competition. The programme is transmitted at 12 noon, ITV 1, Sunday the 12th of July. |
