This small cottage was in a terrible state of repair. The brief was to bring it back to its original appearance yet create spacious, modern interiors. The red tiled roof was renewed as were the sash and case windows.
For cost reasons an extension was omitted which would have better taken advantage of the sea views. However, by knocking through the gable and inserting patio doors the kitchen space has been opened up to secondary views and lots of light.
Traditional v-lining has been contrasted with modern kitchens and furniture to give a contemporary but Highland feel. A palette of oak, ceramic tiles, painted timber and white walls gives a simplicity which is charming, clean and modern. Our architect chose Ercol furniture to give stylish elegance to the dressed house. The property is available for let through Wilderness Cottages.
