Founders of Dualchas Architects and sister company HebHomes , Neil and Alasdair Stephen, held a webinar recently which dived deep in to the different experiences and outcomes you can achieve depending on whether you order a pre-designed kit house or go for a full bespoke design. The key considerations were to do with maintaining cost control, what is apprpriate to your site and brief, and what level of design detail you are looking for. The webinar highlights some recent projects with Dualchas and the client's journey as they worked in close collaboration with the architect from concept to completion. This included Ord Steading, pictured above, where an old building is being transformed into a magical walled garden, with a new corten steel-clad building being located within the stone ruins. But the discussion also reiterares that architect-designed kithouses can be a great solution for many. Good design is always the starting point.
