Ardmaleish House
Crinan Canal, Argyll and Bute
Located by the Crinan Canal, Ardmaleish house was formerly used as a lock-keepers cottage. The canal runs from Loch Fyne to the Sound of Jura forming a connection from the Firth of Clyde to the Western Isles.
Being a traditional two-storey Scottish white house it has a classically-proportioned front elevation and narrow plan. The renovation looked to transform the quality of the interiors through simple interventions, bringing in light and creating a greater variety of spaces, but to leave the exterior largely unchanged.
