Elgol, Isle Of Skye
An old whitehouse in a stunning setting in Elgol had been disfigured by poorly thought out alterations. This included removing the render, changing the windows and building a continuous box dormer. The client had an old photograph of the building in its original condition – with white rendered walls, attractive dormers and brightly coloured doors and windows. This image was used in a 1950s advert for the paint Snowcem and is the second last slide in this sequence above.
We decided to reinstate the cottage front elevation to its previous state – but also transform the interiors in to a light, contemporary design.
