Diabeg

Wester Ross

Between a rock and a larch place.

At Diabeg in Wester Ross, an existing stone ruin was taken down and rebuilt to the same proportions. A new larch-clad mirror image was created alongside and connected to the stone structure by a triple-glazed link.

The sky is framed between stone and larch, the space both intimate and infinite. The tactile surfaces demand to be touched, the journey between the structures connects to nature and lifts the soul.

The house won the award for the Best New Building in the 2022 Highland an Islands Architecture Awards.
