Camuscross 2

Isle of Skye

Our clients wanted to build a house that was low-lying and subtly integrated into the natural birch scrubland. he relationship to the adjacent river, foliage and evening sun were the main factors in locating the building.

Sitting parallel to the contours of the site, the orientation of the building is generally north/south with the main elevation and terrace facing west and the afternoon/evening sun.

The main building form is one room wide, with ancillary accommodation running parallel in a slightly smaller block. Both blocks have flat roofs to allow them to sit as low in the landscape as possible, and therefore be largely invisible from the surrounding roads.
